The Dining Room

The Dining Room at Goldsborough Hall offers a sumptuous fine dining experience in the magnificent setting of a royal 17th century stately home

Enjoy a dining experience in a royal stately home, we would be delighted if you would join us for dinner. We offer a number of opportunities to dine at the hall from a la carte and room service to a seven-course gourmet dinner. Menus are available daily for both resident and non-resident guests, although table booking is required.

Our Head Chef Adam Thur and his talented team use only premium quality, locally sourced produce, including fresh herbs and vegetables from our own kitchen garden, to create dishes that consistently surprise and delight.

HRH Princess Mary and her husband Viscount Lascelles lived at Goldsborough Hall during the 1920s and their royal visitors who stayed and dined at the Hall include King George V and Queen Mary.

À la carte dining

Our à la carte menu has been created by the Hall’s head chef to allow guests to experience the finest local Yorkshire food coupled with the unique personal setting of the Hall.

Whilst selecting from the menu enjoy a pre-dinner drink and nibbles in our Jacobean Library or outside on the terrace in the summer months. You will then be taken through to the dining room or Princess Mary Drawing Room, where your meal will be served, accompanied by your choice of fine wines from our cellar. Resident guests also have the opportunity of taking this menu in the privacy of the bedroom suites.

As all our food is sourced from local suppliers and prepared fresh on the day, to avoid disappointment we do suggest that you confirm your dining requirements at the time of booking. Please also mention any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Head Chef - Adam Thur

Adam Thus - Head Chef

Hungarian-born and raised, Adam Thur has savoured a passion for food and always longed to be a chef. Growing up in Budapest, his uncle owned a restaurant, providing inspiration for his dreams from a young age. His style of cooking is modern British, where seasonal ingredients are presented in a highly creative yet simple style. He introduces an unexpected element to a dish; maybe in the presentation or the flavour combination, and from time to time, he adds a twist which reflects his cultural roots.

Adam has joined the Goldsborough Hall team from The Star Inn the City and the multi award-winning Michelin starred The Star Inn at Harome, where he was Sous Chef. Prior to this, he was Head Chef at York University, where he honed his culinary prowess and creative skills with high-profile events, attended by Royal guests and other VIPs.

Adam commented, “Goldsborough is a wonderfully inspiring and friendly place to work. Here I have the opportunity to develop creative menus, inspired by such an amazing rural location. I am lucky to have the kitchen gardens here simply can’t beat your own produce, fresh from the garden.”

The kitchen gardens form part of the Hall’s renowned gardens and grounds. Beside the fresh home-grown fruit, herbs and vegetables, Adam’s menus are full of enticing Yorkshire produce, from a selection of high-quality, local and artisan producers.
