Top 10 Tips On Choosing The Right Wedding Venue
We have been running Goldsborough Hall as a private Yorkshire wedding venue for over five years now and we are delighted that the hall has been listed in Brides magazine’s top 100 wedding venues for 2011 and in Vogue magazine’s ‘Venues in Vogue’.
Brides might find themselves overwhelmed with so many venues to choose from. With that in mind and from our experience of owning a wedding venue, I have compiled a check list of things to consider.
1. Take your time
You’ve just arrived. Take time to look round and don’t be rushed. Check out the rooms for layout and décor. Are the staff helpful and polite? Is it a beautiful location for photo opportunities?
2. Sample everything
Use the opportunity to try out the canapés for quality and presentation and definitely grab a glass of fizz!
3. Snoop the bedrooms
It’s essential to check out the bedrooms especially the bridal suite! Goldsborough Hall offers the highest rated accommodation in Yorkshire and one of its bridal suites includes a sunken bath with views over the parkland and an 8ft four-poster bed…
4. Write it down
Take a notebook and pen and jot down contact information, ideas for layout, decorations and floral arrangements. Ask questions!
5. Talk to other couples
Others couples may have some good ideas as they are going through the same process. Many will be local so that you can swap notes with each other.
6. Wedding cars
Check out the cars – some venues have their wedding cars at the front. One of Goldsborough Hall’s wedding Bentleys, for example, is a very rare stretched Arnage, a real head-turner and ideal for that voluminous dress!!!
7. Suppliers know their stuff
If you are at a wedding fair at the venue, talk to the all suppliers to see if they are people you’d like to work with.
8. Diary it
Bring your diary with you to sort out meetings with suppliers and to check those all important dates.
9. Friends can help
Bring your friends or your mum to help them feel involved and also give you a chance to bounce ideas back and forth.
10. Take photos
Don’t forget to record what you’ve seen on a digital camera or a mobile phone. You can jog your memory of what the venue looked like.
Good luck!
