“Fantastic”
Fantastic! Wonderful! Will return. Afternoon tea a very novel idea and ambience of Hall very ‘us’. Breakfast quality in all areas superb Staff very friendly and attentive.
“Gold Star for Goldsborough Hall”
We scoured the web for the perfect hotel/b&b to stay at for Valentine’s Day, and after many clicks and views of substandard accommodation – this gem appeared. Ticked absolutely all the boxes and we nervously approached the front door upon arrival, desperate for it to live up to our hopes. It certainly did not disappoint.
The Hall itself is set in a beautiful location which most definitely feels as though you are ‘getting away from it all’. The outside of the building is imposing and grand, and inside is, in my opinion, breathtakingly beautiful and so well refurbished and sympathetic to the style of the building whilst having the odd modern luxury here or there such as a huge TV and DVD and the four person whirlpool bath. I can assure you, it really does look as good in ‘the flesh’ as in the pictures on their website. The staff were friendly and immediately put you at ease with a lovely manner and excellent customer service.
The facilities in the room were good – mini-bar and great tea and coffee making facilities, ipod dock and access to wifi should you need it. Four poster bed in our accommodation (The Hutton Suite) which was lovely, firm mattress and feather pillows. And the rooms were super warm, which I wouldnt have expected in such an old and large building (and large room – ours was huge!).
Breakfast the following day, which was perfect – access to cereals and fruit, juice and the usual bits and pieces (croissants brought out with the coffee which was really nice) and a full yorkshire breakfast (but there are other options) – cooked to perfection and served in another impressive room within this amazing building.
I can’t imagine anyone having reservations (pardon the pun) or second thoughts regarding the booking of a break at Goldsborough Hall but if they did, I would say give it a try, you’ll be really glad you did! Thanks for a great stay.

“Totally Amazing”
We have just returned from a weekend break. I am confident that anyone wishing to receive a first class outstanding luxury break would not be disappointed with their stay here. The attention to detail is second to none and staff so accommodating, helpful and friendly obviously take great pride in sharing this idyllic haven. The gourmet tasting evening utterly brilliant, we felt very pampered. Thank you for allowing us to share and marvel at your beautiful home.

“Beautiful House and Gardens”
Booked last minute. What a fantastic place. Beautiful house and gardens with spectacular rooms with a personal touch everywhere. This hotel was a real find. Really relaxing stay. Staff are frindly and attentive with service second to none. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. My only reservation is that other people will discover this fantastic place and I wont be able to get a room.

“Special Time Together”
Absolutely deserves it’s 5* rating. It was respite from cancer treatment for my wife, and part of celebrating our 32 years of marriage. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay longer than one night, but it was well worth the journey from Cambridge. Attention to detail and quality were plentiful. The resident owners certainly ensure that guests are not disappointed, from the warm welcome to the fantastic Yorkshire breakfast. Many thanks…….

“Fantastic”
I took my wife and our two children (10 & 7) to celebrate her birthday for an overnight stay. We were booked into the Hutton Suite which was fab for the kids who loved the HUGE 4 person jacuzzi bath and the 50 inch plazma tv. Nothing was too much trouble and all staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent too.
We asked for recommendations for places nearby to eat and chose the Tiger Inn, Coneythorpe (a 5 min drive away) which again was excellent. Goldsborough is the perfect place for a couples/honeymooners weekend away – so next time the kids are staying with grandma!!

“Most sumptuous and comfortable”
Very difficult to fault. The room/bathroom were the most sumptuous and comfortable I can remember staying in. Grounds lovely for strolls. Staff and owners very friendly and welcoming. No evening meals were being served that night but good, standard, reasonably-priced pub grub in the Bay Horse 5 minutes walk away. Certainly intend to return.

“Exactly what I wanted”
Really glad I chose to stay at Goldsborough. It was exactly what I wanted for our mini-moon. We booked 3 nights at Goldsborough in the Lascelles Suite (Sunday to Tuesday) as our first few nights away as a married couple. The people at the Hall were so friendly and relaxed and the food and suite were perfect.
In our room for my wife there was a spa bath overlooking the grounds in which to drink champagne and for me there was a 60″ TV and a cinema system with projector for us to curl up to depending if we wanted to sit on the sofa or in the bed and eat chocolates…..
The location of the was perfect. Completely out of the way with nothing to see from the room but beautiful gardens and green fields, not a man-made structure in sight. With the window open in the room we could hear the cattle and sheep in the fields, the birds in the trees and a donkey in the distance and nothing else – no planes, no cars, nothing.
We took advantage of all the special treats that Goldsborough offers whilst we visited too. The champagne afternoon tea is fantastic and sitting in the private grounds watching the sun go down whilst sipping some bubbly was exactly what we needed.
The following night we had the private dining banquet. The service and the food were both fantastic. I was particularly impressed with the sea bass for the fish course but all of the courses were beautifully done and the wine from the hall’s cellar was stunning.
The sunken bath in the Lascelles Suite
On our final night we enjoyed the Bentley Dining Experience which was again a great treat. Our driver was very friendly and gave us some background on the cars and the hall. The car was beautiful, even my wife was impressed with how much leg room we had and how deep the carpets were in the back.
I would recommend Goldsborough to anyone who wanted a relaxing stay away from it all, but within access of the benefits of a city (York and Leeds are only 30 mins away).
Room Tip: Lascelles Suite is the best room in the hall and has the spa bath and projector. Thoroughly recommend the Narnia-esque bathroom too!!

“Luxurious accommodation was dreamlike”
My wife and I stayed at Goldsborough Hall last Thursday having won the visit in the Dalesman magazine. We have to say that our visit was wonderful. Staying in your home in such luxurious accommodation was dreamlike. The staff were friendly and helpful and deciding to stay in and dine was the icing on the cake. We hope to return at some future date.

“The perfect retreat”
Goldsborough is a beautiful English country Hall set away from the hustle and bustle. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, it provides the perfect getaway for a group of friends, family or romantic break for two. The staff are attentive and polite without overfussing and it was a pleasure to meet the owners Mark and Clare. You’ll want for nothing during your stay at Goldsborough, thoroughly recommended, we shall be returning.

“Gourmet dinner left us speechless”
Richard and I would like to thank everyone, for making our stay with you so special. After the horrible delays on Friday evening, we were greeted and made to feel very welcome when we finally arrived. The Lascelles Suite, is absolutely exquisite, the four poster bed is one of the largest, and most comfortable beds we have slept in, in a very long time, add to that the fantastic cinema projection system, and it made a wonderful weekend so much more. We would like to pass on our very highest regards to the chef, the seven course meal, left us both speechless. Each course was flawlessly presented, and filled with flavours that complimented each other wonderfully. We look forward to coming and staying with you again, and we wont hesitate in recommending Goldsborough Hall to our family and friends.
Sara & Richard – Apr 2011
“A memorable night”
“Thank you so much for making our stay with you so memorable last night. We have all had the most lovely stay. In fact we were sad to leave this morning. We will certainly be returning. Julie was such a lovely lady and took great care of us for afternoon tea and dinner. Also lots of help and advice from Pamela and Margaret before our arrival.
Mr and Mrs Watson – Feb 2011
“Amazing place”
“We were looking for a peaceful couple of days away from the kids and we certainly found it. The house is incredibly beautiful, our room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable…had a brilliant two nights’ sleep here. The service was absolutely charming – we felt very welcome. If you want a holiday from the world, come here.”

“A unique and fabulous place to stay”
“Goldsborough Hall is a truly unqiue and fabulous place to stay. My husband and I settled on this place because it seemed to offer far more for our money than the other overpriced and impersonal places in the area. We stayed in the Wharton Suite which was the smallest of the rooms, but still a good size and beautifully appointed. The huge plasma TV, whirlpool bath, waterfall shower and double sinks give this historical house a real modern twist. But dark wooden furniture, a restored fire place and huge window and ceiling heights, all the character and tradition of this former royal residence have been retained. Goldsborough Hall has just 6 rooms available to paying guests making the peace and tranquillity something you can guarantee. The staff will deliver a continental breakfast in bed or for a cooked breakfast go down to the dining room. With so few rooms, you really feel like you are the only people in the place and with such peaceful grounds and acres of countryside around, you can’t hear any of the busy roads nearby. [it's just a mile or so from the A1M and A59] Although it’s not a traditional hotel [and that's the best part], there are the usual amenities in the room, compimentary tea and coffee and biscuits, as well as a well stocked minibar [usual prices] and also free wireless. The staff are very attentive and always within each reach, just press the buzzer at reception or the front door and they appear within a few seconds. This is good northern hospitality without an ounce of snootiness and the place is steeped in the history we are so often afraid of celebrating in this country.”

“Excellent Rooms, Great Hosts”
Good birthday surprise. A late booking but what a great experience, excellent rooms and food, great hosts. Looking forward to visiting again.
Mr Hutchinson – May 2010
“Go on, Spoil Yourself”
“From the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome in this private country house. The rooms both public and suites were fantastic, we were lucky enough to be shown all 6 suites in the house which vary in size but the standards of decor have had nothing spared on them. It sounds like a cliche but the owners and staffreally do have that “real” passion for what they provide and nothing is too much trouble. They have fantastic grounds for you to wander around and it’s all set in a pretty village location so a car is essential unless you want to travel by taxi. The standard of food was very high, especially the full Yorkshire breakfast which will leave you full until lunchtime. Dinner needs to be booked in advance which was the only down side to the experience but the quality and presentation was fabulous, for an extra special treat why not use their Bentley Dinner Service to a local restaurant, we used it for the William and Victoria and the General Tarleton restuarants, both offer a stunning menu with many dishes featuring locally produced produce and charge a very reasonable rate with excellent service. Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who just wants a special and romantic place to stay with all amenities within easy reach. If you are interested in history, it was also a royal family home which Mark or Clare who happily tell you about so go on spoil yourself !”
Mr Hunnisett – April 2010
“Luxury Personified”
“Complely met my expectations for the accommodation which was luxury personified. The bathroom deserves a special mention, loved the gadget shower and the two person bath, the wife loved the toiletries. Will definitely stay again as it is ideally located to explore shopping centres and the countryside alike. Well worth the money for the two days. Looking forward to my next visit.”
Mr Powley – April 2010
“Gorgeous Hideaway”
“This beautiful property is a wonderful hideaway from hectic daily life. The family-run atmoshphere and enthusiasm for the property, its history and the level of service are excellent.”

“Yorkshire’s Best Kept Secret”
“This be the Yorkshire’s best kept secret, so remote and private yet only a few miles from Harrogate, no wonder it’s got 5 AA stars. It’s not a hotel and does not pretend to be one, instead it offers the chance to stay in what was Princess Mary’s former home. The owners live there as a private house that is not open to the general public, so with only 6 letting rooms you pretty much get the place to yourself. You can certainly stay at other places for less money, but at Goldsborough the rooms are massive and according to the owners most have 8ft four poster beds and plasma TVs. We stayed in the Lascelles suite, which had a sunken bath overlooking the grounds. There was a projector and screen that came down from the ceiling so bring some DVDs. There was also free wifi internet available. Goldsborough is quite near to Harrogate and York and both are well worth visiting. If you are looking for an impersonal 5 star hotel with spa facilities and 24hr room service then Goldsborough Hall is not for you, but if you are looking for the most romantic and relaxing place to stay, to get away from it all, then book now and hang the expense, it’s worth it!”
George, Dublin – March 2010
“A Guest in a Stately Home”
“Firstly, this is not a hotel. You are a guest in a stately home. This place is amazing. we stayed in the Hutton suite for our first anniversary. The room was by far the best room i have ever stayed in, 10 times nicer than the Lowry hotel in manchester. You must try the private dining here, the food is fantastic and you really feel like you have gone back in time. We sat in the library for hours after eating, drinking wine with the log fire blazing. The staff in the house were very polite and couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely be returning next year”
Mr Fowler – Feb 2010
“Wonderful, beautifully restored building”
“Thank you for allowing us to stay at your wonderful home. It is a truly wonderful, beautifully restored and updated building and can see the efforts that you have put into it over the past few years. All I can say is that it was certainly worth it – the Lascelles suite was simply exquisite. Not only was the accommodation stunning but the service provided by all of the staff was excellent. It all served a good purpose too as my girlfriend agreed to be my wife that evening in the room – the perfect setting as far as we’re both concerned. Our only regret is being unable to stay longer.
