History:

Byerley suite ideal for honeymoons and bridal first nights

The Byerley Suite

The suite is named after Captain Byerley in honour of his most famous horse the Byerley Turk that was buried at Goldsborough Hall in 1706. This horse became the eldest of three stallions from which all horses must descend if they are to be called a thoroughbred.

The Byerley family, originally from Midridge Grange in Northumberland, inherited the Hall with the marriage of their son, Robert, to his cousin Mary Wharton who then lived here from the late 17th to mid-18th Century. A 300-year-old copper beech tree stands near the main entrance and is believed to mark the spot of the last resting place of the Byerley Turk.

Staying in the Byerley suite is a must for any keen equestrian visiting the racecourses of Yorkshire and may just help in picking a winner.
