History:

Honeymoon suite, four poster luxury in the Lascelles Suite

The Lascelles Suite

This suite is named after the Lascelles family who purchased the Hall in the 1750s from the Byerley family. The Lascelles sons had become extremely wealthy from trading in the West Indies and the younger brother purchased the estates of Plumpton and Goldsborough, while his elder brother built Harewood House. Consequently John Carr and Robert Adam, who worked at Harewood, also remodelled the Hall.

Both sons died without heirs and the 24,000-acre Harewood estate passed to cousins. The Hall remained under the ownership of the Lascelles family for over 200 years. In the 1920s Viscount Lascelles married HRH Princess Mary and made Goldsborough their first family home. During this time the Lascelles suite was used as the day nursery for the children, the eldest of whom, George Lascelles, was the 7th Earl of Harewood.
