Royal Gardens of Goldsborough Hall
The 11-acres of private gardens at Goldsborough Hall lend themselves beautifully for weddings and are perfect for those all important photographs.
• Private grounds
• Stunning and uninterrupted views
• Champagne terrace
• Ideal for wedding photographs
Each season has its own beauty in the gardens. In Spring, the gardens are awash with bulbs and the Lime Tree Walk boasts over 50,000 daffodils.
In Summer the herbaceous borders really shine and continue on until late October. The change in leaves in Autumn make for stunning shots, while the stark beauty of the bare trees in Winter make a fabulous backdrop.
The terrace on the south side of the hall is perfect for a champagne and canapé reception with its uninterrupted views across unspoilt parkland and not a car, house or road in your view. Music from a jazz band or a string quartet could drift over the gardens.
History behind the Royal Gardens
The 11-acres of gardens at Goldsborough are situated in the grounds of the Grade II* 17th-century stately home. The gardens were laid out in the style of Capability Brown in the 1750s and boast some magnificent and mature trees.
These include ancient yew, beech and pseudo-acacia trees along with giant redwood, white beam and one of the oldest horse chestnuts left standing in the country.
The house and gardens came to fame in the 1920s with the arrival of HRH Princess Mary, who came to live at Goldsborough Hall following her marriage to Viscount Lascelles.
The gardens have been restored over the last few years and now open to the public for Snowdrop Days, and for charity under the National Garden Scheme in March and July.
Garden gallery
The gardens section in the main Goldsborough Hall site contains a slide show of garden images and there is a season by season guide for brides in the Gardening Year.
