A Royal Wedding Legacy: Getting Married at Goldsborough Hall
Royal wedding venue in Yorkshire; Goldsborough Hall was home to Princess Mary in the 1920s
Where Royal History Meets Modern Love
If you’ve ever dreamed of getting married in a place steeped in romance, elegance, and history, few venues can rival Goldsborough Hall - a 17th-century stately home with a royal legacy that still echoes through its oak-panelled Hall and rose-filled gardens.
Once home to HRH Princess Mary, the only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary, Goldsborough Hall offers couples the rare opportunity to say ‘I do’ in the very rooms and gardens where royalty once lived, loved, and entertained.
Princess Mary: A Royal Love Story in North Yorkshire
Princess Mary and Viscount Lascelles with the King and Queen. After their honeymoon the couple lived at Goldsborough Hall
After their honeymoon, the newlywed Princess Mary and her husband Viscount Lascelles moved into Goldsborough Hall. For several years, this grand estate near Harrogate was not just their country residence - it was the backdrop for the early chapters of their married life.
The couple welcomed visiting royals, planted trees along the now-famous Lime Tree Walk, and helped shape the Hall’s gardens and grounds, much of which remains lovingly preserved to this day.
Today, the ‘Yorkshire Princess’ rose - named in her honour - blooms along the balustrade border, a living tribute to her legacy and love of the estate.
