Luxury afternoon tea in Goldsborough, North Yorkshire

Welcome to Goldsborough Hall, a historic stately home in the heart of North Yorkshire that once belonged to HRH Princess Mary (the daughter of King George V). Today, this private country house opens its doors for one of life’s most elegant pleasures: Royal Afternoon Tea.

So, what makes it Royal?

Aside from the grandeur of the setting (think 17th-century architecture, lush gardens, and elegant interiors), Goldsborough Hall is steeped in royal heritage.

The Hall was home to Princess Mary in the 1920s and with visits by her parents King George V and Queen Mary, the Royal afternoon tea pays tribute to that era of grace and style.

What’s on the stand?

You’ll be served a beautifully curated tea stand stacked with:

  • Fluffy homemade scones, served warm with clotted cream & jam

  • Delicate finger sandwiches with classic fillings like cucumber, smoked salmon, and ham

  • Freshly baked seasonal cakes and patisserie - macarons, tarts, and dreamy mini desserts

All served with a pot of fine tea or even a glass of bubbles, if you're in a celebratory mood. (Spoiler: You are.)

Tea with a view

Whether you're sipping inside the light-filled Orangery, the elegant 18th-century dining room or taking tea on the terrace overlooking 12 acres of formal gardens, you’re guaranteed a setting that feels like a scene straight out of Bridgerton. In spring and summer, the landscape is breathtaking. Come autumn, the grounds glow golden. It’s dreamy, year-round.

It’s more than tea - it’s a whole vibe

This isn’t your average afternoon tea in a busy café. It’s slow luxury. It’s time out with your favourite people. It’s sitting in a royal drawing room or watching the breeze dance across the garden. It’s Yorkshire hospitality with a crown on top.
